Galavant Distilling is a mock distillery created for my thesis. It focuses on creating an experience through branding for consumers to appreciate revolving around identity design, and intermingling the art of hand lettering. My thesis is about using these areas of design to tell a story through branding a distillery. The brand concept is a celebration of all types of cultures, and countries worldwide by using traveling and transportation as a metaphor. Each spirit and bottle is seen as a memento from where it first originated from. Ingredients are also imported from those countries. Tapatio Tequila and Ohai Ali'i Rum are spirits that coincide the master brand. Each spirit represents a different country. Tapatio Tequila represents Jalisco, Mexico. Galavant also imports blue agave nectar from the highlands of Jalisco. Ohai Ali'i Rum represents St. Nicoles, Barbados. Sugar cane juice is imported from a farm in St. Nicoles.
All marks made for this brand have been hand lettered; The Galavant Logo, Ohai Ali'i Word-mark, and Tapatio Tequila Word-mark. The Galavant Logo was lettered using a c-3 nib.
